Hundreds of gays and their family members and allies, gathered in Virginia’s capital city of Richmond for PrideFest 2011. Among the featured entertainers were Washington DC based singer Tom Goss and internationally celebrated singer Martha Wash of "It’s Raining Men" fame. Another fabulous festival in Lee Park brings Pride weekend to a close as crowds gathered after the parade. What was different this year? The annual San Diego LGBT Pride Parade is the 5th largest in the United States attracting over 150,000 spectators. This year, in addition to the standard turnout of GLBT supportive businesses, politicians and groups marching in the parade, about 200 US active-duty troops and veterans also marched with American flags and banners, thanks to the recent end of the military ban on openly gay troops.
