2008 Rhode Island Pride Festival
Saturday, June 22nd dawned bright and beautiful, a perfect sun filled day for Rhode Islands 32nd Annual Pride Festival. Over eight hours of entertainment on the main stage headlined by Tiffany, numerous vendors and thousands of participants made for a great day. We didn’t get close-ups of everyone... but we sure got a lot. Check out the 300+ photos from the day!

Rhode Island’s 32nd Pride Festival started Friday night with a party for the Pride Committee’s Sponsors, Major Donors, and Dedicated Volunteers. Special attendees were Julie Goldman and Paolo Andino, performers in Logo’s "The Big Gay Sketch Comedy Show"; who with a bit of help from Providence’s finest did an impromptu sketch during the party. Providence Pride :: 2008 Weekend in Review
This year’s Rhode Island Pride celebration drew a huge crowd for a day of unity and entertainment. Thousands of spectators gathered on the sidewalks of downtown Providence, many spilling out into the streets to cheer on the various floats and marching groups as the 32nd annual event wrapped.
Gay Pride... or Hubris?
There is plenty to celebrate this pride season - most notably the great social upheaval that the California Supreme Court has initiated that sanctions gay marriage in that state. Yet will the good feelings that this act has brought be dashed next November if a conservative-sponsored ballot initiative repealing gay marriage passes? EDGE spoke to a number of activists and same-sex marriage advocates about what needs to be done between now and November to ensure that our gay pride won’t be looked back on as gay hubris.

Boston Pride :: High Tide Pride 7 Boat Cruise
The weather may not have been perfect for the 6th annual High Tide Pride this past Sunday, but it dampen the spirits of those who attended this boat cruise, a benefit for the Boston Living Center. With DJ Warren Gluck providing the music, it was a great afternoon of dancing or just sightseeing as the boat cruised the harbor. EDGE was there -- here are the photos.
Mayor Proudly Salutes Pride Month
Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley stood at the podium in the ornate GAR Hall of the city’s Michigan Avenue Cultural Center on Tuesday and told a reception in celebration of Pride Month that he supports "marriage equality." "It’s all about human rights and civil rights," said the mayor to cheers.
