PopUps: Cate Blanchett for 'American Horror Story'?

Friday November 20, 2015

This could be big for "American Horror Story" fans.

Cate Blanchett spoke with Vulture at the MoMA film benefit Tuesday in New York City and talked about working with out actress, and "AHS" regular, Sarah Paulson on the upcoming lesbian thriller "Carol."

Blanchett, who stars in the Todd Haynes film, said she's "desperate to work with [Paulson] again."

"She's brilliant. I've long admired her onstage and onscreen, and it was such a pleasure to work with her. In every gesture and every look, she just speaks volumes," Blanchett added.

Vulture asked if she would be willing to appear on "AHS," considering Paulson is one of co-creator Ryan Murphy's go-to actresses for the FX anthology series.

"You know, she hasn't asked!" Blanchett said. "[But] yeah, if she asked me."

Vanity Fair gets our hopes down, however, writing that this is Blanchett "being her most gracious and diplomatic self." But the publication notes other high-profile movie stars who have making appliances on the small screen, like Rachel McAdams in HBO's "True Detective," Kirsten Dunst on "Fargo" and Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon teaming up to star in a limited-series "Big Little Lies," which has not been picked up by a network yet.

So maybe a Blanchett spot on "AHS" Season 6 is a possibility after all!
