PopUps: The New 'Dancing With The Stars' Cast is Insane
Even though I don't watch "Dancing With the Stars," I weirdly get excited when the star-studded dancing reality show announces its new cast of competitors. Time and time again, "DWTS" has revealed a wild list of "trending" celebs, D-listers and athletes I've never heard of.
The cast announcement for the 23rd season of "DWTS" is no different: The most notable stars who are vying for the coveted Mirror Ball Trophy include scandal-ridden Olympic swimmer Ryan Lochte, model Amber Rose and... former Texas governor, Rick Perry.
Rounding out the cast is R&B singer Babyface, rapper and reality star Vanilla Ice, star of the reality show "Little Woman" Terra Jole, "The Brady Bunch"' star Maureen McCormick (Martha!), actress Marilu Henner, Disney actor Jake T. Austin, country singer Jana Kramer, Olympic gymnast Laurie Hernandez, race car driver James Hinchcliffe and former NFL player Calvin Johnson.
In a tweet Tuesday, Perry announced his "DTWS" participation:
The GOP politician has a terrible record when it comes to LGBT rights, condemning the Supreme Court's landmark same-sex marriage ruling in 2015 and has compared to homosexuality to alcoholism.
On the flip side, Amber Rose has often supported LGBT equality and recently lashed out against anti-gay commenters, who took aim at her son wearing a wig on Instagram.
