PopUps: It Looks Like a New Katy Perry Song is Imminent
It's been awhile since Katy Perry dominated the pop charts, but that looks like it's about to change.
After campaigning for Hillary Clinton during the 2016 presidential election, and being a vocal proponent for progressive causes, it looks like Perry is returning to her pop star roots: On Feb. 12 she will be one of the many musicians to perform at the Grammy Awards.
The Recording Academy made the announcement Monday via Twitter, with Perry confirming on her social media accounts.
Although not official, music news site Ultimate Music claims Perry will perform a new song that is allegedly called "Chained to the Rhythm." The site also claims the single will be out this Friday, ahead of her Grammy performance.
Idolator notes that Billboard initially confirmed Perry will perform "Chained to the Rhythm," which apparently features Skip Marley (Bob Marley's grandson), in a recent article but has since removed the info. Capitol Records has yet to confirm if the singer will debut a new song this week.
