PopUps: Lady Gaga Remembers Amy Winehouse in Moving Post

Monday July 24, 2017

It's been six years since Amy Winehouse died of alcohol poisoning and Lady Gaga paid tribute to the late pop icon in a moving social media post.

"We all miss you and your voice Amy," Gaga wrote Sunday, adding a heart emoji. Mother Monster used the opportunity to turn her message into a teachable moment.

"Good time to remember to treat people that we love with dignity and respect. What a talent," she wrote, adding a photo of Winehouse.

Winehouse died at 27 on July 23, 2011.

Though Gaga and Winehouse never worked together, frequent Gaga collaborator Tony Bennett worked with the "Rehab" singer before her death and said he regrets not trying to help Winehouse, The Mirror reports.

"Should I have told her that I'd contended a little bit myself and knew how you can fall into a bad cycle, but I also knew that you could bring yourself back?" he wrote in his memoir. "Would it have made a difference if someone she considered an idol had said to her something like, 'You're my idol. You are a once-in-a-lifetime talent. Please don't take that from the world'?"
