PopUps: Twitter Isn't Happy with Sam Smith's Opinions on Michael Jackson

Has Sam Smith stepped in it again?

The British crooner is getting flack from Twitter users this week after a video of "American Idol" star Adam Lambert posted a video of himself and Smith on his Instagram stories. In the clip, Michael Jackson's "Human Nature" is playing and Smith is heard saying, "I don't like Michael Jackson but this is a good song."

Someone off camera responds by saying, "Oh!" - apparently shocked by the "Too Good at Goodbyes" singer's remark. It also didn't take long before the Internet reacted to Smith's comments. Among those who took issue with his take was singer Stephanie Mills, who says she dated Jackson. Taking to Instagram, Mills wrote:

"Don't come for MICHAEL JACKSON when you wish you have sold as many records and you wish you were the King of Pop like he was. I'm so tired of you people studying our music and studying our artist and claiming that you don't like our music.

Smith has yet to respond to the backlash or Mills.

This isn't the first time Smith has been hit with a backlash of sorts. After winning a Golden Globe for his James Bond "Spectre," Smith "I don't know her"-ed Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke. During a press conference, Smith was asked if he was surprised that Yorke would release Radiohead's rejected "Spectre" song.

"Thom Yorke?" he responded, apparently confused. He then turned to his co-songwriter Jimmy Napes, who helped pen the award-winning "Writing's on the Wall." Napes quickly informed Smith who Yorke is.

"Yeah, I was a little bit surprised," Smith eventually responded. "But I haven't listened to it personally because I did the 'Spectre' theme song."
