PopUps: Lana Del Rey and Cop Boyfriend Sean Larkin Split
It's over for singer Lana Del Rey and Sean Larkin, a police officer and host of the popular TV show "Live PD."
Larkin, 46, was recently profiled by The New York Times with an article called "Policeman. Reality Star. Recent Ex-Boyfriend," in which he opened up about his career in law enforcement, television and being the former partner to Del Rey.
The pair had been spotted together a number of times in 2019 and even went to the Grammys together. In the article, Larkin didn't get into details about how he met the "High by the Beach" songstress but said they crossed paths because of their work and met in New York and "just kind of hit it off from day one."
Larkin said a lot of people asked him if he knew who Del Rey was and he responded by saying, "Like, of course, I knew who he was." He goes on to describe their relationship, saying they did the "boyfriend, girlfriend type of things together," which apparently included watching people surf in L.A., going to the beach, shopping, coffee dates, and running errands at Target. Larkin called the relationship "very low key."
"When we were in Tulsa we hung out with my law enforcement friends and their spouses. We all Super Bowl partied together, dinners and things like that," he told the NYTimes. "Normal things couples do with their friends."
The "Live PD" host talked about the media attention towards their relationship. He said he wasn't nervous about their relationship, "not at all."
"We drive cars 120 miles per hour, and I don't want to sound like a tough guy, but I mean, when you're behind a known shooting suspect and he jumps out the car running, you've got to get out chasing," he told the newspaper. "Taking pictures and answering questions. I'm not trying to sound like a bravado tough guy, just like, you know," he said, and paused. "It was enjoyable, for sure."
Nevertheless, he said his children (who are 17 and 22 years old) were "kind of blown away" but his relationship with Del Rey, adding that his kids help him stay in touch with new music and what's considered cool.
"If you stay on top of music that some of these guys are listening to, it's something relatable," he told the NYTimes of the people he comes across in his work. "If you stop them in a car and they've got whoever playing the radio, and you know who it is, you start talking to them about it, and it's kind of an icebreaker."
Finally, Larkin says, that he and Del Rey are "just friends."
"We still talk and whatnot, we just have busy schedules right now," he said.
