Queer Eye's Tan France Predicts 2021 Fashion Trends

Sunday January 10, 2021

Style expert Tan France is cautiously optimistic about where fashion is headed in the new year.

"It's a difficult [question], because we don't really know what's going to happen with the pandemic. I'm hoping that the world will get back on track within the next few months, " France told Business Insider India. "Up until the point where we do start to get back to some normalcy, I think that people are going to stick with what they've done over the last few months, which is sweats," France said.

Similar to the response after World War II, France predicts people will be eager to put on their finest threads after months of solitude — "people dressing up as if they're going to a fancy event when really they're just going to work."

"I really miss just dressing up because you want to look beautiful. I miss beauty in fashion," France said. But much like the global vaccination efforts, the transition from sweats to couture won't be flipping a switch to fabulous. As previously reported, the Kurt Cobain '90s style cardigan is making a comeback — one step closer to a look ready for the public eye rather than a Zoom call. France also hopes that "streetwear is on its way out" in favor of well-tailored, fitted outfits.

France is starting slow and steady, collaborating with EyeBuyDirect on a new line of eyewear, so at least you'll look good from the head up.
