Like many art forms, dance concerts have been put on hold until recently. Amy Seiwert and ODC Theater present their 11th Sketch series of works in progress. This time the dances get some introspective investigation in context of our lives due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The concert will be viewable in person August 27-28 (8pm) and 29 (7pm), and broadcast October 22.

Artistic Director Amy Seiwert and artistic fellow Ben Needham-Wood will interrupt each other during the dances to explore motivation and vocabulary these decisions of each of the works in progress.

Unfortunately the last Sketch concert, scheduled for 2020, had to be put aside, so this concert of works in progress reflects are evolving cautious times.

Seiwert and Needham-Wood's choreographic styles blend the strength and precision of ballet with a creative contemporary edge. Nearly a dozen dancers will perform in what should be a lively thought-provoking series. The concerts are the culmination of Needham-Wood's multi-year fellowship with Amy Seiwert's Imagery.

With a mission to foster innovation in ballet-based choreography, The Sketch series, which started in 2011, explores new challenges that push choreographers and dancers out of their comfort zones and into the frontier of innovation in contemporary ballet. The works-in-progress showings include moderated Q&As occurring throughout the process.

The August 29, 7pm concert will ASL-interpreted, and will include an optional audio description for the sight-impaired.

All new health guidelines will be used for the in-person concerts. ODC Theater, 3153 17th St. Tickets are $25-$55.
