Life sometimes imitates art, or so the saying goes. But art imitates life, too, and that's going to happen when the Netflix adventure series "The Umbrella Academy" returns for a third season on the streamer.

The character played by Elliot Page will come out as trans and be known going forward as Viktor, according to Deadline.

Page himself made the announcement in a Twitter post that included a still from the upcoming season that shows Viktor.

Netflix showed its support of Page and his "Umbrella Academy" character by retweeting his message and adding its own celebratory note.

The series is based on the comics by Gerard Way (yes, that Gerard Way, of the band My Chemical Romance) and Gabriel Bá.

Page came out as transgender in 2020, the same year the show's second season premiered.

"Hi friends, I want to share with you that I am trans, my pronouns are he/they and my name is Elliot," Page, then 33, posted. "I feel lucky to be writing this. To be here. To have arrived at this place in my life."

In an interview the following year, Page opened up about his journey and revealed that his gender identity is something he has known about since he was a child.

Page's "Umbrella Academy" character played a pivotal role in the show's first two seasons as the traumatized — and most powerful — of a group of super-powered siblings. In Season One, the Hargreeves siblings (Tom Hopper, David Castañeda, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Robert Sheehan, Aidan Gallagher, and Page) are has-beens. Onetime youthful heroes and members of the crime-fighting Umbrella Academy, the estranged Hargreeves offspring assemble once again after the death of their adoptive father, Reginald Hargreeves. Learning that an apocalyptic event is about to unfold, they set their differences aside and band together to stop the apocalypse. As Season Two commences, their efforts to save the world have resulted in the siblings being stranded at different points in the 1960s. Finding one another and joining forces yet again, the siblings attempt to set things right, and apparently succeed.

But, a news release from Netflix teases, things aren't so simple. In Season 3, the Hargreeves' victory turns out to have complications when they come up against Reginald's other set of super-powered kids — the Sparrow Academy.

Season Three of "The Umbrella Academy" premieres on June 22 on Netflix.
