Watch: Gay Couple in 'Cocomelon Lane' Stirs Rightwing Backlash
A gay couple featured in Netflix's "Cocomelon Lane" are making rightwing waves in social media circles for allegedly being "woke."
As reported by Forbes, "Cocomelon Lane" is the animated spin-off of the children's program "Cocomelon." In the series, a gay couple sings to their son about being his true self while he wears a tiara and a tutu.
"If you're not sure what to choose, think about all the things you like to do—just be you," the boy's parents sing.
It's a sweet moment, unless you dislike all things joyful like some conservative trolls of the show. Many are up in arms over the inclusion of LGBTQ content in the children's program.
Conservative blogger Matt Walsh claimed, "Netflix needs the full Bud Light treatment for this," referring to the boycott of the beer brand after a relationship with Dylan Mulvaney.
According to Netflix, "Cocomelon Lane" was the 10th-most-viewed program in the United States between Dec. 11 and Dec. 17, its fifth week in the top 10.
Conservative pundit Ben Shapiro accused the program of "confusing" children and "indoctrinating them into a particular leftist point of view about gender identity and sexual orientation.
