'SNL' Star Marcello Hernández Riffs on Benson Boone — And Boone Approves
Sexy singer Benson Boone is loving how "SNL" cast member Marcello Hernández reminded audiences of one of the sweatiest moments of the year so far. Hernández donned a suit reminiscent of the one Boone famously adjusted at the Grammys for a skit on last Saturday's episode of the long-running sketch comedy show, and rounded it out with some Boone-style acrobatics.
People Magazine recounted that the sketch is about a judge (Ego Nwodim) sorting through a pool of potential jurors (among them the evening's host, Oscar winner Mikey Madison). A parade of people seeking exemptions from jury duty appear before the judge, some of them offering ludicrous excuses ("I'm from the future!" Bowen Yang declares) and others going completely off-topic. ("Is Luigi receiving my nudes?" Heidi Gardner asks.)
Growing exasperated, the judge declares herself to be in need of someone "normal" to vet for the task, and then addresses the next potential juror: "So, sir, tell me: Why do you need to be dismissed?"
Enter Hernández, cartwheeling in and "wearing a sparkly jumpsuit reminiscent of the one Boone, 22, wore during his performance at the 2025 Grammy Awards last month."
As reported at the time, Boone's Grammys gig featured some stunt work as he shed a tuxedo and tore off breakaway trousers to reveal the glittering, tightly fitting garment. Then he did a flip from a piano while singing "Beautiful Things."
After he finished the song, and as he nodded his acknowledgement to applause from the audience, Boone suddenly reached down, lifted a leg, and, with a mischievous expression, grabbed his crotch and gave it a tug before bowing to the crowd.
This was hardly Boone's only thirsty moment; he went viral last summer after leaving a concert venue clad in little more than an American flag-themed Speedo, and his gym selfies are the stuff thirst traps are made of. Still, the singer felt compelled to issue an apology on his Instagram Story. "Sorry for adjusting my jumpsuit so aggressively on stage tonight," Boone told his fans; "that thing was extremely restricting in certain areas."
Hernández doesn't take things quite that far. Rather, he "wrapped the sketch by doing what Boone does best," People relayed. "A flip and subsequent impromptu performance of his chart-topping hit, 'Beautiful Things.'"
"Uh-uh, no, no, no, no, no," Nwodim interrupts, banging her gavel. "The trial is canceled!"
The bit got a thumbs-up from Boone, who left a comment on the "SNL" TikTok account, where a clip from the skit was posted.
"Listen," Boone commented, according to People. "This is exactly how I would behave in court."
Boone himself satirized the Grammys moment in a post days later that showed him still wearing the jumpsuit... and still giving it hard tugs in all the tight places.
