Holiday Drinks (Without the Hangover?)
0Holiday drinking can take a toll on one's equilibrium - but according to some nutritionists, cheribundi cherry juice might prevent holiday hangovers.
The latest superfruit at the supermarket, cheribundi tart cherry juice is a delicious juice with more antioxidants than Pom and other fruits and juices.
According to nutritionist Dr. Christine Greene, "cheribundi contains a special class of antioxidants called anthocyanins, which happen to function in the body as an anti-inflammatory, similar to ibuprofen so it's less likely to cause headaches associated with hangovers."
There's also the fig.
Commonly used as an all-natural sweetener, the fig is rich in iron, Vitamin A, calcium and fiber. In the pharmaceutical industry, the fig has been gaining increased popularity as a natural digestive aid.
This holiday season, try mixing your alcohol with some of the latest and most well-known "superfruits" - and you might not find yourself stumbling through the morning.
Dobel Tequila: Festive Fig Cocktail
2 figs, halved
1/2 oz fresh lemon juice
1 oz simple syrup
2 oz Dobel Tequila
Fresh Thyme
Muddle the figs, lemon juice and simple syrup in a cocktail shaker.
Add Dobel Tequila and a few ice cubes. Shake for 10 seconds.
Strain into a glass. (The chunks of fig make this a little tricky, so beware when straining.)
Garnish with fresh thyme for a perfect Dobel Festive Fig Cocktail.

Bajan Rum Toddy
2 ounces Cockspur Fine Rum
1/2 ounce fresh lemon juice
1 teaspoon brown sugar
4 ounces hot water
Pour Cockspur Fine Rum, lemon juice, and sugar in a mug.
Top with hot water.
Garnish with star anise and lemon peel.

Flickering Ember
1.5 oz Appleton Estate Reserve Rum
1 oz Cruzan blackstrap
1.5 oz burnt sugar simple syrup
2 dashes maple bitters
Shake and pour into 9 oz coupe.
Top with bubbly.
Garnish with orange oil.

Snickerdoodle
1oz Partida Resposado Tequila
3/4oz Baileys
1/2oz Butterscotch Schnapps
3/4oz Cream
Splash of Cinnamon Schnapps
Cinnamon stick for garnish
Combine all ingredients in a shaker and shake with ice.
Strain into martini glass and garnish with a cinnamon stick.

Mulled Spice Cheribundi
4 cups cheribundi Tru Cherry or Skinny Cherry juice
1 cup bourbon
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
1 dash of allspice
1 dash of root beer
Heat on stovetop until hot and the aroma fills the air.
Pour in festive holiday cups.
Garnish with rolled cinnamon or orange slice.
Serves four.
