Design on a Dime Benefit Previews Design Steals

NEW YORK - Housing Works' seventh-annual Design on a Dime takes place from May 5 to 7 at the Metropolitan Pavilion at 125 West 18th Street. This year's event sponsors include HomeGoods, Valspar, and returning media sponsor Traditional Home,who are helping to raise funds for Housing Works' newest residence for New Yorkers living with HIV/AIDS, the Jefferson Avenue Housing Program in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn.

Housing Works is also pleased to announce a 56th room available for auction on shophousingworks.com now through May 13. Curated and designed by Genevieve Gorder of HGTV's Dear Genevieve, the vignette, will be on display in the windows of Housing Works Chelsea Thrift Shop.

The evening of May 5th will begin with a VIP Open House presented by HSBC Private Bank from 6PM to 7PM (tickets starting at $500). In the spirit of Cinco De Mayo, guests will nosh on a gourmet twist on Mexican street fare by The Works Catering and sip signature cocktails by Chopin Vodka. Attendees will also enjoy advance shopping of select vignettes with founding chair, James Huniford and co-chairs Nate Berkus, Iman, Charlotte Moss and Lara Spencer.

The main reception for Design on a Dime will begin at 7pm (tickets starting at $150 advance/$200 at the door) whereby the rest of the featured 56 room vignettes will open for viewing and shopping. The largest roster of designers have been assembled to design creative room vignettes using new merchandise, all donated and then sold for 50 to 70 percent off retail pricing.
