Debuting the Next Generation of Asian Pacific American Fashion Designers

Thursday August 9, 2012

SAN FRANCISCO, CA - Kearny Street Workshop announced its fourth annual fashion show fundraiser, KSW Runway, scheduled for September 8, 2012 at the Oakland Asian Cultural Center.

KSW Runway returns to give Bay Area fashion mavens a peek at the best of emerging Asian Pacific American fashion designers. Be among the first to view exceptional collections by up-and-coming APA designers, purchase garments hot off the runway during the live auction, and celebrate the strong influence of Asian Pacific Americans in the fashion industry.

With the success of designers like Phillip Lim and Alexander Wang, and the recent launch of Jason Wu at Target, the influence of Asian Americans in the fashion industry is more prominent than ever.

KSW Runway has been a tremendous opportunity for emerging APA designers to showcase their work and to market their brands. In the past the fashion show has showcased eco-couturier Linda Wong (The Battalion) as well as breakthrough designers like Alice Wu (Feral Childe), Heather Guevarra (Gingerbread Clothing), Loretta K Nguyen (fiftyseven-thirtythree), Matty Merrill and Sep Kamvar (Distilled). This year's show will continue to introduce fashion-forward collections from the next generation of designers.

The mission of KSW is to produce, present, and promote art that empowers Asian Pacific American artists and communities. KSW offers multidisciplinary arts presentations, and trains APA artists in craft and business skills.
