Cher To Perform At NYC Pride’s Dance on the Pier
NYC Pride today released the identity of its second headliner for the annual Dance on the Pier. Legendary singer and actress - and gay fave - Cher will perform her new single, "Woman's World," at the dance. The song is part of her upcoming CD, scheduled for release on September 24th.
"NYC Pride is thrilled to welcome Cher to the stage," said Chris Frederick, Managing Director of NYC Pride. "Her performance will be one of the most memorable in the history of this world-class party."
The single will be release tonight on the final episode of NBC's The Voice; Cher will perform live on the show. The event will mark her first live television appearance in over a decade. The artist has told fans via Twitter that she will tour in 2014 in support of her album's release this fall.
Cher joins a long list of notable artists who have performed at NYC Pride's Pier Dance, including Whitney Houston, Jennifer Lopez, Janet Jackson and Cyndi Lauper. This year's dance - the 27th running - will also feature Deborah Cox and will be held at Hudson River Park's Pier 26 in TriBeCa.
The 27th Annual Dance on the Pier is slated for Sunday, June 30. More information about NYC Pride's lineup of events can be found at the event's Facebook page and Twitter page. More information about the 2013 edition of NYC Pride is also available at the event's official website.
