Watch: UFC Star Sean Strickland Declares, 'I Love Gay Dudes!'
In case you had the impression from Sean Strickland's social media messages that he's homophobic, he'd like to set the record straight, Low Kick MMA reported.
The 30-year-old fighter assured the world in recent comments to the press that any assumed anti-gay animus on his part is mistaken — though he did so immediately after dissing a journalist's "gay fuckin' haircut."
"By the way, dude, when I make fun of gays, dude, I fuckin', I love gay men!" Strickland said in a video shared by TheMacLife. "Gay men are awesome."
The fighter, who has made himself a rep for spouting off-the-wall commentary, then went on to say that "gay men look at me like they wanna fuck me, and I respect that! They compliment me, they slide [in my DMs], I get some dick pics every now and then."
"I respect that shit," Strickland said. "I'm not homophobic."
Shortly after that, addressing the question of why fellow fighter Kevin Holland dislikes him, Strickland recounted, "I think I told him I could rape him in prison one day, and it bothered him. But I'm just stating the facts, dude, I'm just stating the fuckin' facts: If you and me were in a jail cell together, and I wanted to, like...I could take that ass!"
Suppositions of Strickland's homophobia stemmed from comments he tweeted in December. As previously reported, Strickland took to Twitter in response to a fan's query as to whether he would "rather have a gay son or a thot daughter."
Strickland responded, "If I had a gay son I would think I failed as a man to create such weakness," before adding, "If I had a whore for a daughter I'd think she just wanted to be like her dad lol!"
Only a few minutes later, however, and reportedly amidst criticism for the post, Strickland sent out another tweet in which he seemed to express his admiration for the ease with which he asserted gay men can have sex.
Tweeting that he supports gay men "and their choices," Strickland suggested that "Gay guys have it made."
"Most gay guys I know are always happy," he explained. "They all just get to hang with buddies all day and have sex.. us straight men, we're fucked... we gotta do some serious work to get laid."
Strickland throws down with Jack Hermansson in a Fight Night event this coming Sunday, Feb. 6.
