Watch: Laverne Cox Happy to Be Mistaken for Beyoncé at US Open
Laverne Cox was mistaken for Beyoncé while sitting in the audience at US Open, and she is not mad about it.
As reported by Entertainment Weekly, Cox was tickled at the comparison and took joy in the internet's praise of the moment.
After sharing a video from Twitter that featured herself cheering on tennis icon Serena Williams, Cox made fun of the Twitter account that captioned the tweet: "Beyoncé at the US Open."
Cox tweeted: "Not me getting mistaken for @Beyonce at the #USOpen tonight then trending on Twitter as the internet cackles over the mistaken identity." But she said, "These tweets are funny as hell. Enjoy!!! Go @serenawilliams #GOAT #SerenaWilliams #Beyonce."
As Williams one her match, Cox came out as winner too. As one user wrote, "2nd biggest winner tonight: Laverne Cox who was mistaken for Beyonce all night. Which is a career highlight for literally anyone."
She replied, "Absolutely!"
Taking note of the comparisons, Cox's friends also proceeded to drop celebratory comments on the post she made on Instagram. Dear White People star Quei Tann commented, "You both do look alike! It was bound to happen."
Superstore's Franchesca Ramsey added, "You DESERVE! You had [the] queen's essence radiating from behind the mask."
"Pose" star Angelica Ross, however, knew it was her all along, writing, "Funny as soon as I scrolled to this I was like 'that looks like Laverne.'"
Still, nice serves for Cox and Williams that night.
