Will This Be a Barefoot Boy Summer?
You may have heard of Hot Girl Summer or Sad Boy Fall, but chances are that you haven't heard of Barefoot Boy Summer until now.
In a recent article by New York Magazine's The Cut, writer Max Berlinger has officially coined this summer as Barefoot Boy Summer. The reason? First, "Euphoria" hunk Jacob Elordi was photographed making a barefoot coffee run in LA, and in a recent picture of Shawn Mendes out with friends, Mike Sabath—a member of his "smoothie squad"—was also traipsing around barefoot. In addition, Etro recently sent male models down the runway without shoes.
Photographer Nick Hudson was also recently spotted barefoot in front of his Brooklyn townhouse, and when asked about it, he replied that barefoot is his preferred way to be, especially when he's at his second home in the Catskills.
"I generally don't wear shirts or shoes, honestly," said Sabath. "I just feel more free." While he added that he doesn't usually walk around urban areas barefoot, he is a fan of barefoot hikes. "I think, in general, it's good when something makes you think, What the fuck is happening?" Sabath says. "It kind of loosens up your perspective a bit. But it's really healthy to notice that some other option exists. And oftentimes when people yell about something, it's probably because they do it already or want to do it."
He adds about being barefoot in a world where wearing shoes is the norm, "My thing is, if someone feels good about something, then they should do it."
