We think every day should be National Dog Day, but alas, it's only official once a year. August 26 is the day when we give extra-special love to our furry friends. The following five hotels also think canines deserve VIP treatment 365 days per year.
River's Edge Hotel, Portland, Oregon
Traveling with furry family members is a little easier and more fun at Portland's River's Edge Hotel with their exclusive pet package. This newly-renovated riverside hotel offers guests and their pooch perks, including in-room extras like food and water bowls, mats, a concierge-selected list of nearby pet-friendly restaurants, parks, and services, courtesy bags for dog walks, and more.
Pet Guidelines: One-time fee $50 cleaning fee for all pet rooms, regardless of 1 or 2 pets in the room. Fee is waived for ADA service animals.
Ingleside Inn, Palm Springs, California
Quiet and secluded, located far enough away from the every day yet just steps away from the heart of Palm Springs, the 30-room Ingleside Inn is one of Palm Springs' first resort-style escapes with quite the illustrious past.
The Palm Springs Historic Landmark debuted its elevated look December 2017, following a year-long revitalization and restoration project. Melvyn's Restaurant -- a Palm Springs institution and former Rat Pack hangout -- has completed a historic restoration, preserving its history, lively energy and legacy. The Inn provides a dog bed, bowls and treats for four-legged companions.
Pet Guidelines: One-time $75 cleaning fee for one dog and a $90 one-time fee for two dogs.
Hotel Viking, Newport, Rhode Island
Located in the heart of downtown, Hotel Viking welcomes all guests to bring their pets along for their stay, offering a variety of amenities to help them settle in comfortably. Upon arrival, there is a welcome sign for guests (A.K.A your pet), as well as tasty treats (by Wag Nation) and a designated water bowl.
In addition to the everyday amenities, each Thursday the hotel hosts a "Paws on the Patio" program located on the One Bellevue Patio where a special food dog menu is available. Grilled hot dogs, mini burger patties, "Good Dog" skirt steak, scrambled eggs and more are offered, allowing guests to enjoy breakfast, lunch or dinner with their furry friend right beside them.
Pet Guidelines: Advance noticed required. $75 (non-refundable) pet fee. Pets must weigh 75 pounds or less. All pets must be crated if left unattended in guest rooms.
Union Station Hotel, Nashville, Tennessee
At Union Station Hotel, your four-legged family members get the luxury treatment as part of their pet-friendly program, Rails & Tails. At this Nashville hotel, furry friends are always welcomed, which is why they've stocked their hotel gift shop with Baxter Bailey & Company treats (locally made). Treats are available via in-room dining, as well.
Pet Guidelines: Limit two pets per room, Pet weight limit of 65 lbs, and a $100 nonrefundable cleaning fee will apply to all reservations of up to four nights.
