Dr. Bloom's journey into the world of fertility medicine was deeply personal. After practicing obstetrics and gynecology at Pennsylvania Hospital, she pursued a fellowship in reproductive endocrinology at Main Line Fertility in 2017, eventually becoming an attending physician in 2020. It was during her own experience with infertility that she truly connected with her patients' emotional and physical challenges. For over a year, Dr. Bloom and her wife underwent fertility treatments, eventually welcoming twin boys through IVF. This journey profoundly shaped her understanding of what her patients endure and fuels her passion for compassionate, personalized care.
"Going through infertility treatments ourselves gave me a firsthand understanding of how difficult it can be, both physically and emotionally," says Dr. Bloom. "That experience allows me to connect with my patients on a deeper level and support them through their own journeys."
Her expertise spans a wide range of fertility issues, from recurrent pregnancy loss and polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) to the growing field of egg freezing and LGBTQ+ family building. Dr. Bloom believes in not only providing cutting-edge medical care but also educating her patients, empowering them to make informed decisions about their fertility options.
"What I find so exciting about this field of medicine is the constant evolution," she says. "There are always new advancements in research and technology, and it's critical that patients are aware of these developments so they can make the best decisions for their families."
Dr. Bloom's commitment to her patients and the broader fertility community has earned her numerous accolades, including being named a Castle Connolly Top LGBTQ+ Doctor and a Philadelphia Inquirer Philly Favorite Doctor in 2024.
In addition to her medical practice, Dr. Bloom is a strong advocate for fertility awareness and education. She frequently speaks on the importance of reproductive health and continues to actively learn and engage with the latest advancements in the field. Through her work, Dr. Bloom is helping to redefine what family means for individuals and couples from all backgrounds, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to pursue their dreams of parenthood.
