Martha Stewart's Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Cover Breaks the Internet
Kim Kardashian isn't the only one who knows how to break the internet. Food, living and lifestyle guru Martha Stewart has just proven that she can still cause a stir at 81 after revealing that she is on the cover of Sports Illustrated's swimsuit issue.
As reported by Deadline, Stewart became the oldest woman to ever be featured on the cover of the magazine, an honor previously held by Elon Musk's mother Maye at 74.
About the cover photo, Stewart said she likes the picture in an interview with "TODAY's" Savannah Gutherie and Hoda Kotb.
She then admitted "It's odd to go to an island and get changed into nine different bathing suits in one day in front of all those people...and it turned out ok!"
OK indeed, but people shouldn't be surprised that Stewart is so photogenic. She actually started her modeling career at 15 and has appeared in numerous TV ads and magazine spreads for classic brands such as Chanel.
Stewart shared, "To be on the cover at my age was a challenge."
But getting over the challenge simply took confidence, Stewart told the New York Times.
"It doesn't have as much to do with blatant sex as with a self-assurance that started when I was a child," she said. "So, when the offer came, I thought, 'I can do this. I don't have to give in to convention.' How else would I, as an 81-year-old, have talked myself into feeling good about getting into a bathing suit?"
Well done, Martha!
