Tom Daley Is Back to Winning Gold
After a multi-year hiatus, Tom Daley was back in his speedo and back on top as an award winning diver at the British National Diving Cup diving event last week.
Daley, with his new synchro diving partner, Noah Williams, both walked away with gold in the 10-meter platform synchro event.
As reported by Outsports, Daley's dive also marked the first time in a long time since he's performed in front of a crowd. The Tokyo Summer Olympics and other events were crowd-free due to COVID-19 restrictions.
"It was weird to dive in front of a crowd with people - last time I competed, there was nobody there in Tokyo," Daley told British Swimming. "It is very nice to be back and get that adrenaline going again."
In Tokyo, Daley's gold-medal partner was Matty Lee. Lee did not compete at the British National Diving Cup.
For a while, Daley has been toying with retiring and toying with crochet. But it seems he is back to doing what he loves so his son screenwriter Dustin Lance Black can see him compete at an international level.
Whether Daley will compete in the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics has not been confirmed, but this win is definitely a step in the right direction.
