Florida Governor Charlie Crist -- who is currently seeking a seat in the United States Senate as an Independent -- told CNN's Senior White House Correspondent Ed Henry Aug. 29 that he is opposed to legal recognition of same-sex marriage, and believes that a constitutional ban should be in place that overrides states that have legalized marriage equality.

"When it comes to marriage, I think it is a sacred institution, I believe it is between a man and a woman," Crist said, but allowed that he sees "no problem" with unmarried partners living together. "It's just how I feel," he said.
