The Gay and Lesbian Activists Alliance (GLAA) of Washington held elections in December for its five executive officers for 2012, as the organization pushes for changes to District laws to ensure LGBT equality and seeks to hold candidates seeking local office accountable to voters in the run-up to the 2012 election.

Arlington resident Miguel Tuason will replace outgoing President Mitch Wood, who served for three terms, during which civil marriage equality was enacted in the District.

Other officers elected include Richard J. Rosendall as vice president for political affairs; Kevin Davis as vice president for administration; Allison Gardner as secretary; and Gary Collins as treasurer.

The elections come on the heels of GLAA's release of its ''Agenda: 2012'' guide to local LGBT issues and candidate questionnaire, which seek to educate politicians and encourage them to pass laws that further the progress enjoyed by the LGBT community.
