MassEquality Icon Awards to honor Menino, others
LGBT advocacy organization MassEquality will host the Icon Awards, an inspired dinner and ceremony, on Feb. 29 at 6 p.m. at The State Room (60 State St., Boston). Honorees include political icon Boston Mayor Thomas M. Menino, philanthropic icon Ron Ansin, corporate icon Eastern Bank, and community icon Gladys Vega of Chelsea Collaborative.
According to the organization's website, the dinner will honor "four icons who have demonstrated a spirit of living social justice for the LGBT community: a) a public service elected official; b) a civic advocate or philanthropist; c) a business or corporation; and d) a civic advocate or ally."
