LAPD Announces $25,000 Reward in Attack on Transgender Woman

On Tuesday, the Los Angeles Police Department released surveillance video of the May 31 brutal attack on a transgender woman in Hollywood. A $25,000 reward has been offered for information leading to the arrests of the four individuals seen involved in the attack.

As first reported by CBS Los Angeles, the assault occurred on Friday, May 31 when victim, Vivian, born Victor Diego, 22, was attacked by a group of men after leaving work at Beso Restaurant in Hollywood, which according to Radar Online, is co-owned by "Desperate Housewives" star Eva Longoria.??

CBS reports that Diego was "dressed up" to hang out with friends. The victim's sister spoke with reporters and said, that as a result of the assault, Diego suffered two fractured ribs, a shattered cheekbone and a broken jaw. adding that the attackers kicked the victim in the temple and that Diego must undergo surgery. ??

"He was basically left for dead just because of who he is," she said.

Police are investigating the attack as a hate crime.

It should be noted that the report states Diego is a transgender person and that he is gay. His family, however, references Diego as a male.
