Suffolk County police say four people are charged with assault as a hate crime after a weekend attack in Babylon.

Police say three teenagers and a 20-year-old asked two men for directions to the train station at around 3:30 a.m. Sunday.

Then the assailants punched, kicked and shoved the victims while using slurs based on sexual orientation.

One victim was admitted to a hospital in serious condition. The other was treated and released.

Police identified the suspects on Monday as Gregory Gilbert, Shane Buckley, Nicholas Battaglia and Justin Buckley. All are residents of Oceanside.

The names of their attorneys were not immediately known.
