NJ Advocates Ask Judge Not to Delay Gay Marriage
Gay rights advocates have asked a New Jersey judge not to delay implementation of her order that the state start allowing same-sex marriages on Oct. 21.
Judge Mary Jacobson ruled last week that the state must allow gay couples to marry.
Gov. Chris Christie's administration is appealing to the state Supreme Court and asking that the order be put on hold in the meantime.
On Friday, gay rights advocates filed in court arguing that the state has not shown either irreparable harm if wedding licenses can be granted later this month or that it is likely to win on appeal.
