As he prepares to return to Washington, Congressman Mike Michaud (MEE'-shoh) says he's happy about all of the expressions of support he's received since coming out as gay. The Maine Democrat and gubernatorial hopeful says constituents have been overwhelmingly supportive.

Members of Congress including Democrats Joe Kennedy of Massachusetts and David Cicilline (sihs-ihl-EE'-nee) of Rhode Island have reached out to their show support, as well.

Also reaching out was Republican Jeff Miller of Florida, chairman of the Veterans Affairs Committee, who works closely with Michaud, the committee's ranking Democrat. He says Michaud is a friend and advocate for veterans, "and his recent announcement does nothing to change that."

Michaud says he's looking forward to getting back to work when he returns to Capitol Hill on Tuesday.
