Kathy Griffin's Twitter account was suspended Sunday, not long after the comedian changed her handle to "Elon Musk" to protest the billionaire, who is now in charge of the social media platform, The Wrap reports.

Along with the name change, Griffin also changed her avatar to the same one Musk uses and urged followers to #VoteBlue in the upcoming midterm elections and switch to the social media website Mastodon — a competitor of Twitter.

"After much spirited discussion with the females in my life, I've decided that voting blue for their choice is only right. (They're also sexy females, btw.) #VoteBlueToProtectWomen," Griffin tweeted.

On Sunday, Musk announced "any Twitter handles engaging in impersonation without clearly specifying 'parody' will be permanently suspended." He also added that users will no longer receive a warning before being suspended and that a name change will earn a harsh punishment: The temporary loss of a verified blue checkmark for those who pay $8 a month for Twitter's Blue feature.

The Emmy winner took to Instagram and reacted to her Twitter ban.

"I have the best friends in the world. So I'm trending on Twitter. Long story. Anyway I was getting lots of comments online from Elon musk cult members Then DING DONG! The doorbell rang and there was Katherine Keener, Stephanie Koff and Rosanna Arquette!

Just checking up on me. We hacked into my birthday cake again," Griffin captioned a photo of herself along with Keener, Koff and Arquette.

As of Sunday evening, Griffin's account is still suspended, but it's unclear if she's permanently banned from the website or is in a time out.
