Gay Man's Disneyland Proposal Had a Sweet Surprise
The Magic Kingdom got a little more magical, and a lot more romantic, when a gay man proposed to his longtime partner at Disneyland — and his partner pulled out a ring of his own and proposed right back.
Javier López Jiménez and Samuel Bishop Macias, a couple of seven years who live in Guadalajara, Mexico, were at Disneyland in Anaheim, California, last month when Jiménez presented Macias with a ring and a request for his hand in marriage, Today reported.
He got his answer when Macias, who had the same idea, presented Jiménez with a ring in his turn.
"The engagement caught the attention of onlookers, who stopped to cheer on the happy couple — and capture viral footage," Today detailed.
"A video taken by Disneyland guest Jenny Tuell shows the play-by-play of the double proposal," Today went on to add. "Jiménez and Macias pause in front of Sleeping Beauty's castle. When Macias sees Jiménez down on one knee, he smiles, then reaches into his blue bag to pull out a box of his own. Laughing, he gets down on one knee. After getting engaged, the couple embraces each other."
Jiménez called the moment "perfect." Macias added, "I was like, 'OK, this is happening.' It was very beautiful. We were both crying and laughing together."
The couple also had tender words to share about one another.
"He is a very beautiful soul, he's a person whose words can soothe," Macias said of Jiménez, whom he called "the kindest person" with "a huge heart."
Of Macias, Jiménez said: "He is my best friend. I think he's the perfect man for me because he's my Winnie Pooh, and I think he's special."
