Matinée New Years NYC-Miami: 24 Hours. 2 Cities. 1 Party.
They've made their reputation in Barcelona, Ibiza and London since 1997. In 2010, they did wonders in New York with a Pride party on Governor's Island and a Thanksgiving fundraiser for the Trevor Project. Grounding their parties in the basics of good music and spectacular production, the Matine Group now sets its sights on both New York and Miami, joining the frozen North with the Sweltering South in one hot pulse as 2011 makes its debut.
The NYC event is at Pacha, the world famous multi-story playground for the beat-quest pilgrims. For Miami, the venue is the magnificent Paris Theatre, which features various levels of dance floors and a grand balcony. Some of the top producers in both cities -- Rob Fernandez, Hilton Wolman, Tommy Marinelli, Luis Morera, Billy Kemp and Jake Resnicow -- will channel the hot European energy of Matine into the duo-events.
New Years Day: Matinée NYC @ Pacha 01.01.11
First ever 360° experience
Those elements that have made Matine so successful in Spain will be present in Pacha on New Year's Eve: 20 of the hottest dancers, massive LED screens, costumes direct from Matine Ibiza, spectacular aerialists, and a Tron-inspired 360-degree experience.
"There are going to be several WOW moments that are going to leave you talking for weeks," says Tommy Marinelli. "We are flying in very top talent from around the world - from performers to designers and professional dancers - expect a dynamic show that will blow your mind." Rob Fernandez, renowned for his work in both NYC and Miami, described how Pacha would transform itself for the event: "We are bringing in giant, all-new LED screens and lasers."
An experience that will blow your mind
There is just as much care placed on the dance floor, especially with regards to DJs. The phenomenal Hector Fonseca, who just charted #1 on Billboard with his smash remix for Katy Perry/Peacock, will headline the night, and he will have good company. "Our Matinee NYC Resident DJ Theresa will be back due to popular demand," said Tommy. "She's like no other DJ - the way she plays live percussion while she spins. And Matinee's hottest dj/producer Javier Medina will make his New York debut."
For those who want to attend an inclusive party with fabulous Gay sensibilities, Tommy promises the crowd will be the hottest and sexiest in New York City. "Everyone there- Gay or Straight- is there to have a amazing time," Tommy added. Jake Resnicow summed up the goal for Matine in the Big Apple: "New Yorkers represent the best of the best from all around the world. We expect more. And we've been working around the clock to give you an experience come New Years that will blow your mind."
And Tommy assured EDGE that the party would indeed be a dance party with peak moments all designed around wowing the attendees, no sermons from divas or other unnecessary distractions. "We do have a very big surprise in the works," he hinted. "We are committed to bringing truly cutting-edge talent. And the performances will always flow seamlessly. You won't ever hear a performer stop the music to talk."

New Years Eve: Matinée Miami Beach @ The Paris Theater 12.31.10
Drawing out-of-towners to Miami in record numbers
In addition to Pacha NYC, Miami will have its own parallel party universe in the Paris Theatre on December 31. It is located in the South Beach district of Miami Beach (Washington Avenue and 5th Street).
The theater is was created as an art deco icon by Miami Beach architect Henry Hohauser, and showed popular films since its debut in 1946. It became the Paris Theatre proper in the 1970s, and became more select in the movies it would show, initially first run mainstream movies, then art films. In the 1980s, it fell out of use until 1992 when it underwent a multi-million dollar renovation. Today it is a vibrant video/film production studio as well as a gem in the crown of Miami nightlife.
Miami event producer Hilton Wolman is excited about the project: "I'm thrilled to be working with Matinee Group in bringing a spectacular event to Miami Beach just in time to start the new decade. There is an air of excitement on the beach, with the feeling that it is finally providing the venues and caliber of events that will once again have out-of-towners heading to Miami in record numbers. We are particularly excited to see the large number of visitors coming from Europe, South America, Australia, South Africa, Canada and numerous cities in the USA."
The largest NYE event that SoBe has witnessed in years
Billy Kemp and Luis Morera of Score are helping lead the way, "We are excited to bring the biggest party in the world to Miami Beach for the first time ever."
Like Pacha NYC, the Paris Theatre is the perfect venue for a mega-party. December 31 at the Paris Theatre will be the largest NYE event that South Beach has witnessed in years. For those who want to really live it up, there is a VIP Upgrade for Express Entry, VIP Area with a private bar and open bar from 10pm-2am.

The Commitment
Raising the bar
For years, Matine Group has been producing some of Europe's most acclaimed parties: Space at Ibiza, Circuit Festival in Barcelona, the biggest LGBT event in Europe, as well as the Matine Summer Festival and the Matine Winter Festival, events that have become noted for superb spectacle and quality.
NYC's Jake Resnicow has been especially happy with the creative energies that Matine brings to the USA in every area. "Matinee is far from typical American 'circuit music,'" says Jake. "Check out our website and listen to some of the live sets and CDs available for free download. The music is cool. It's sexy. It's fresh. It's vocal. Signature Matinee tracks like Taito Tikaro's 'Shined on Me' and 'Real Things' just make you want to dance."
"Nightlife has become so much of the same thing every week... The same people, the same venues, the same DJs... We're trying to go back to the roots of what made nightlife so great. New parties, new music, new venues, a new fresh energy. You often see the same DJs playing the same music at the same clubs, ideas being copied, ripped off and replicated, while politics tearing the scene apart. Matinee brings passion, Latin flavor and something new and different to the scene. It's about raising the bar."
