Watch: Ohio Girl Stands Up to Anti-Gay Preacher With Rainbow Flag
A touching YouTube video of a first-grader from Columbus, Ohio standing up to an anti-gay street preacher by handing him a rainbow flag is going viral this week, the Daily Mail reports.
In the 21-second clip a girl, only known as Zea, stood before a preacher who was ranting against LGBT rights at a festival in Ohio - a day before the Supreme Court's landmark ruling was announced, which legalized same-sex marriage in all 50 states. In the video clip, which was posted to YouTube by Ryan Bowling who was at the event, Zea keeps quite while the preacher is spewing his anti-gay rhetoric.
"Zea faces down a fire and brimstone street preacher, at a festival in Columbus, the day after the SCOTUS marriage equality ruling," the video's caption reads.
Despite the preacher's remarks, Zea keeps calm.
"This world will give you heartache, this world will give you divorce, this world will give you pain," the preacher can be heard saying in the clip as he tells Zea that Jesus is the savior.
After handing the man the flag, gay marriage supporters ran up to the young girl and gave her high fives.
Bowling said the preacher's attitude changed after Zea handed him the gay pride flag, according to the Daily Mail.
"He deflated visibly when he saw her coming. He was much more sodomy, brimstone, and bellowing until she got close to him," Bowling reportedly said.
Zachary Traxler was so inspired by the video he designed a t-shirt with a photograph of Zea and the preacher with the 14th Amendment printed in rainbow text in the background. Traxler is selling the shirts on his website Traxler Shirts for $28 and is donation all the proceeds to Zea and her family to donate to a non-profit LGBT charity of their choice.
