LA Pride Announces 2017 Festival Programming in West Hollywood

Monday June 5, 2017

(West Hollywood, CA) June 5, 2017: This year, the LA Pride Festival returns bringing together the community and pop culture with its energetic talent lineup and engaging activations, including live music, carnival games, DJ-sets, restaurant, bar pop-ups, and more.

The epic celebration's musical talent will take place throughout three unique stages: the Park Stage, presented by Blue Shield of California; the Plaza Stage, presented by Nissan; and the Boulevard Stage, presented by AIDS Healthcare Foundation. Additionally, the weekend will feature a variety of events and installations celebrating LGBTQ+ Pride.

On the Park Stage, festivalgoers will enjoy the musical stylings of Canadian electro-funk duo Chromeo headlining Saturday night and R&B singer/songwriter Brandy headlining Sunday night. Canadian actress and model Gigi Gorgeous, star of her own YouTube Red documentary "This is Everything: Gigi Gorgeous" about her life as a transgender woman, hosts the festivities alongside West Hollywood personality and previous year's anchor Billy Francesca. Australian television and radio personality and Hollywood correspondent for "Scoopla," Dean McCarthy, returns as the official backstage red-carpet host for the weekend and will livestream select celebrity happenings across the official LA Pride social media channels. The Plaza and Boulevard Stages will also feature a mix of Latin and Hip-Hop artists from around the world throughout the three-day event.

Kicking off LA Pride festivities is the annual Dyke March in West Hollywood on Friday, June 9 at the Sal Guarriello Veterans' Memorial at 6 p.m. Trans* Party also returns on Friday night, taking place on the LA Pride Festival's Boulevard Stage, and offers a celebration of the Trans* community with live performances, DJs, and award presentations beginning at 7 p.m. Both the Trans* Party and Dyke March offer complimentary admission with no advance ticket purchase required.

Other activations for this year's LA Pride Festival include returning favorite events and spaces, like the drug and alcohol-free experience, #SIZZLE! in partnership with Cedars Sinai, which features games and special performances for all ages throughout the weekend. Additionally, the second annual LGBTQ+ Youth Dance, in partnership with LifeWorks, (a youth development and mentoring program of the Los Angeles LGBT Center) takes place on Saturday afternoon beginning at noon. This dance allows LGBTQ+ youth (under 24 years of age) to have a safe space to celebrate their Pride in a substance-free environment. Erotic City, a popular 18+ experience, also returns to the West Hollywood Park Auditorium and provides a combination of adult entertainment, exhibitions, and adult-oriented goods and services, all celebrating a culture of art and sex where inhibitions are left at the door. LA Pride 2017 also brings a collection of unique culinary experiences, including Shake Shack, Kogi BBQ, and STK Los Angeles to name a few.

Additionally, pride attendees can learn more about their community by visiting the over thirty non-profit exhibitors featured inside the festival along San Vicente Blvd. These local and national community organizations aim to inform and educate the public on their missions and projects, which support the LGBTQ+ community.
