This Pride month, a new community is trying to join the parade season fever; straight people. A Boston group, Super Happy Fun America, is attempting to lead a parade on August 31 to celebrate "straight pride." Their website reads like an overblown Reddit thread poking fun at Pride month, and their tagline "It's Great to be Straight" has drawn ire from many in and out of the LGBTQ community. Their comical requests include having the same parade route as Boston Pride, having a "straight pride" flag raised outside City Hall, and adding "S" to LGBTQ because "it's more inclusive that way."

For the moment, the only actual harm this group's caused is some strain from people rolling their eyes so hard, but the group's intentions with the parade and the possible backlash remain to be seen. The announcement has drawn criticism from both mainstream and social media. Chris Evans has been particularly critical on Twitter:

Stephen Colbert also released a short clip called "What The 'Straight Pride' Parade Won't Have."

"If you're wondering the difference between the gay Pride parade and the straight Pride parade- the gay Pride parade will have women at it," Colbert joked.
