Asbury Park to host 18th annual Jersey Pride
With Pride month in full-swing, Jersey Pride will rock the Shore this weekend.
Jersey Ride with Pride kicks off the weekend of festivities on Saturday, June 6, with their second annual ride with pride event. Seventy five cyclists will ride rain or shine for 11 miles from the Asbury Park boardwalk to Pier Village and back. Breakfast will be served at Langosta Grill (Third Avenue Pavilion) on the boardwalk at the end of the trek. The cost of the ride is $20. And proceeds will benefit Jersey Pride, Inc. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. or pre-register online.
Leather aficionados also have a wide range of options. These include Foreplay 2009, a block party for the Garden State's leather, bear and kink communities. After getting your kink on, dance the night away at the second annual Pride dance at UVA Italian Restaurant and Wine Bar (800 Main St., Bradley Beach) on Saturday, June 6, from 8 p.m. to midnight. The 18th annual Jersey Pride parade kicks off at Main Street and Cookman Avenue in Asbury Park at noon on Sunday, June 7.The parade will be complete with floats, motorcycles and marchers galore. The entertainment grounds are located at Fifth and Kingsley Avenues. Craftsmen, merchants, artisans and community organizations alike will present their wares, along with over a dozen food establishments.
