"Succession" star Kieran Culkin wants you to know that he is just as in the dark as you are about how the family dynasty drama comes to a close for the hit show.
As reported by Variety, Culkin followed up the April 23 "Kill List" episode, which aired on HBO Max on Sunday, with an interview to talk about the events that unfolded and questions posed.
One big question posed is what ever happened to his character Roman's wife, son and sense of sexuality. According to Culkin, there were intentional moves to keep his character's sexuality up in the air. His character also infamously embarrasses himself by sending a dick pick to the wrong person.
"I was excited about the idea of having a kid, and the kid was like 7 or 8," Culkin told Variety. "It was a little disappointing, but I think the idea was that it would just give them more freedom to play with the character."
That freedom included giving him more than a few sexual hangups.
"They had mentioned to me, even before we shot the pilot, about questioning what Roman's sexuality is — and we don't know what it is. They were toying with the idea that she's aware that you have sort of hangups sexually when it comes to monogamy, and might be more fluid, but we don't know what that is yet," said Culkin.
In the show, Culkin's character is rarely able to perform in a traditional bedroom setting. Instead, he starts to enter a taboo mother-son infatuation with one of the family lawyers.
It's salacious and very "Succession." Read Culkin's full interview on Variety.
