Boston’s North 26 Celebrates Labor Day with Lobster Extravaganza
BOSTON, MA. - Chef John Welch, the culinary wizard at North 26 Restaurant is getting creative with his seafood specialty (lobster) this Labor Day. To kick off the festive weekend, Welch has created a Prix Fixe lobster-inspired lunch or dinner, starting with lobster bisque and tarragon profiteroles and concluding with the ever innovative - "lobster ice cream". It will be available Friday, September 2 - Monday, September 5.
Guests of North 26 Restaurant, with indoor or outdoor dining overlooking Faneuil Hall, will have the chance to sample his New England and Mediterranean interpretations of an iconic American favorite, the Atlantic lobster, with equally interesting and tasty accompaniments. The price for the complete multi-course dinner is $49 per person, or $65 with appropriate wine pairings.
The meal starts with spectacular lobster bisque, accompanied by a mini-sweet corn muffin with lobster butter. It gets into high gear and guests can enjoy all three lobster courses: a mini-lobster sandwich on a brioche with a celeriac remoulade; Mediterranean-influenced butter-poached lobster over pappardelle pasta with peas, tomatoes and roasted garlic; and grilled lobster tail in a bouillabaisse reduction with little neck clams and new potatoes, in tribute to the classic lobster and clam bakes of southeastern New England. Dessert is a blueberry bread pudding with lobster ice cream.
Chef Welch is a true New England chef who treasures his heritage and sources his foods locally. In 2001, Welch was named the state of Maine's "Lobster Chef of the Year" and this menu shows his expertise.
North 26 has been described by the Zagat Survey as "'Divine' New England fare featuring 'banging bites' at the bar is the specialty of this 'crisp,' 'cool,' minimalist eatery, which boasts vistas of Faneuil Hall and its vicinity; a 'fantastic' staff demonstrates attention to detail as it delivers the dishes, wine and moderate tabs." The hotel recently introduced new bar and Small Bites" menus for end-of-the-workday enjoyment indoors or on the outdoor patio and will be announcing other new seasonal and special event menus in the months ahead.
