Montreal Celebrates Autumn with New Restaurants

Montreal has always been a city with a rich culinary history - and now, more than ever, the second largest French-speaking city in the world celebrates its polyglot cuisine with a spate of new restaurant openings. Here are three of the most anticipated of the new season.

  • Laurier Gordon Ramsay

    For a taste of something different, celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay was brought in to update a Montr�al institution, Laurier BBQ. Now called Laurier Gordon Ramsay, the restaurant, which re-opened its doors on August 10, will continue to cater to families, though certain aspects of the menu and the d�cor have been changed under chef Ramsay's direction.

    A sort of small, cozy "seafood diner", the restaurant's menu features such items as must-try lobster parfait and kimchee snow crab with crispy rice cake, and includes succulent non-seafood related dishes as well.

  • Le Bremner - A new foodie hotspot in Old Montr�al

    Canadian chef sensation and Iron Chef America winner Chuck Hughes recently opened Le Bremner in Montr�al. Just like his other restaurant, Garde-Manger, Le Bremner is hidden below street level, in picturesque Old Montr�al. A sort of small, cozy "seafood diner", the restaurant's menu features such items as must-try lobster parfait and kimchee snow crab with crispy rice cake, and includes succulent non-seafood related dishes as well. With a growing reservation list, Le Bremner is already one of the hottest foodie spots in town.

  • Daniel Boulud opens a new restaurant in a Montr�al institution

    The internationally-acclaimed Chef Daniel Boulud (Daniel - a three-star Michelin restaurant in NYC, Caf� Boulud, db Bistro Moderne) will be opening a new restaurant at Montr�al's legendary Ritz-Carlton Hotel in early 2012. Maison Boulud will be uniquely adapted to Montr�al's setting, culture and tastes. Boulud plans to use many local products to create season-inspired menus, and to draw upon his traditional French culinary roots and standards of hospitality to offer a world-class dining experience. As for the atmosphere, Boulud is aiming for an "upscale casual" feel.
