A piece of the early 00's has died.

Paris Hilton took to social media Tuesday night to reveal that her beloved Chihuahua Tinkerbell has died of old age. The famous tiny dog was 14.

"My heart is broken," the 32-year-old socialite wrote on Instagram. "I am so sad and devastated. After 14 amazing years together my baby Tinkerbell has passed away of old age. I feel like I've lost a member of my family ... I love you Tinky, you are a Legend & will never be forgotten."

Tinkerbell was nearly as iconic as Hilton, who started a celebrity trend in the early / mid 00s by carrying the little pooch around with her in designer bags.

Tinkerbell appeared on Hilton's Fox reality show "The Simple Life" along with costar Nicole Richie and was often spotted on red carpet events along with Hilton, the Huffington Post reports. Hilton and her dog even appeared on "Saturday Night Live" together in 2005.

Hilton bought TInkerbell in 2002 from an online breeding company, according to TMZ. The "Stars Are Blind" singer apparently purchased the dog after being inspired by the Reese Witherspoon film "Legally Blonde," where the main characters owns a Chihuahua.

Since announcing her dog's death, the hotel heiress has shared a number of photos of Tinkerbell on social media.

"Thank you for all so much for your kind words & condolences," Hilton wrote on Instagram. "It's really helping me through this very sad & painful time. It feels good to know that Tinkerbell was loved by all & touched the lives of so many. She is truly missed."
