PopUps: After Coming Out, Olympian Kenworthy Confirms He's Dating
He's already breaking your hearts, fellas.
Olympian freestyle skier Gus Kenworthy came out as gay last month, and while he's received a number of dating and even marriage proposals, the athlete confirmed to People magazine last week that he is not on the market.
When speaking to the magazine, Kenworthy, 24, said he was seeing someone but the relationship is still new. He went on to say how he was nervous when he first came out but the reception has been "amazing," especially with the skiing community.
"It was a shock to them," he told People. "I had told one friend that I ski with and compete against and other than that nobody knew, so I didn't really know how they were going to react."
Not long after Kenworthy came out, people on social media lobbed tons of questions towards him. One Twitter user, asked him an ignorant question many gay people are asked when they're in a relationship.
"Are you the man or the woman in the relationship? That's all I need to know right now," a Twitter user asked the athlete.
But Kenworthy, who at the time did not mention he was seeing anyone, had the perfect response.
