PopUps: Sam Smith Gets Wedding Ring Tattoo, Feels 'Alone'
British soul singer Sam Smith took to Instagram this week and showed off four new tattoos, including one he got on his wedding band finger for gay marriage and another of the word "alone."
On the social media app, Smith said he recently met an "incredible" tattoo artist.
"So honoured and overwhelmed to not only have met this incredible artist, but to have her tattoo four bits of work on my body today. I adore you - such an inspiring human," he wrote.
The "Latch" singer posted a pic of an equality sign on his ring finger, writing, "First one - the equality sign on my wedding finger. This one is pretty self-explanatory. It shows my views on gay marriage and equality for all."
He explained his second ink, writing, "This tattoo is inspired by one of the oldest tattoos ever found on a mummified body that was found buried alone in the ice."
His third tattoo, which is on his upper right arm, is the word "honestly"
"This is what I promise to be in my music. It's what I live by. In the words of @mariamena_official 'Honesty is my God,'" Smith wrote.
Finally, his fourth tattoo is the word "alone," which is on his upper left arm.
"And lastly - this is just me being a melancholy twatt. Hah. I do see it as a small positive though... No longer lonely... Just alone... Which is ok x. Thought I'd share these with you because I love them," the singer said.
Hours before he posted images of his new ink, he posted an Oscar Wilde quote.
"You don't love someone for their looks, or their clothes, or for their fancy car, but because they sing a song only you can hear."
