PopUps: Nick Jonas Says New Album is Finished

Monday February 22, 2016

Pop star Nick Jonas took to Instagram over the weekend to announce that his new record is finished and that a possible new single is just on the horizon.

"I'm sitting here smoking this fantastic Behike 54 because the album is finished," Jonas, 23, says in the video. The clip appears to be originally from Snapchat as it has text written over the video that reads, "I can't wait for you to hear..."

In the video's caption, the "Scream Queens" star added, "New album done...That means new music music is coming soon."

Jonas' upcoming record will be his third solo album, following the 2014 release of "Nick Jonas," which featured chart-topping singles, "Chains" and "Jealous." That record was re-released in November 2015 and included new songs, including the single "Levels."

The new album announcement comes after Jonas recently opened up about accusations that he is "gay-baiting" fans.

"There's always going to be negativity toward anything that is a positive effort toward change," the singer told Complex magazine earlier this month. "As a heterosexual male, [I am] open and comfortable about loving my fan base, gay or straight, because to me there is no difference, it is my fan base."

He added:

Your sexual preference does not matter to me and it shouldn't matter to anybody.

I thought [the criticism] was kind of dumb, considering I play this gay character on a gritty show. There's a gay sex scene. I kissed a man,' he continued.

The goal is acceptance on all levels - that should be the focus.

I've gone to normal clubs, straight clubs, and I've gone to gay clubs, to party with my friends and fans. There's no difference.

I have nothing to prove. I'm very comfortable in my own skin and I'm thankful to have as many close gay friends as I have, people who have been so supportive in my life, and have always been there for me.
