PopUps: Azealia Banks Deletes Her Twitter
Controversial rapper Azealia Banks is following in Sam Smith's footsteps and is taking a break from Twitter.
The "212" singer, who has found herself in the center of many Twitter feuds (from Perez Hilton to Disclosure), deleted her Twitter account on Tuesday. Billboard reports that before she pulled the plug on her account, Banks gave a message to her fans.
"Ok, today, i'm finally making the decision to eject from social media. american media culture is honestly so fucking disgusting and junky," she reportedly tweeted.
Her decision to delete the account comes after a number of 140-character rants. In one of her many headline-grabbing outbursts, Banks went after the LGBT community, calling them "weak." In another rant, the 24-year-old rapper wrote she wants to "spray a gay man in the face with pepper spray."
This isn't the first time Banks, whose Instagram is still active, jumped off Twitter. According to Billboard, she took a break from the social media platform back in 2012.
