PopUps: Justin Asks His Beliebers to Take Down Celeb Gossip Site
Adding to Justin Bieber's recent display of interesting behavior is the pop star's latest gripe with a celebrity gossip site.
Taking to Instagram Wednesday, Bieber posted a photo of a note that reads, "The website Hollwoodlife is untruthful let's spam them and petition to shut them down! GO!" In the pic's caption, the "Sorry" singer added, "Let's spam and petition to shut this garbage website down."
A few hours later, Bieber posted the same photo. That was followed up by another (strange) picture, with the text "Tweet #hollywoodlifeisgarbage," captioning the image with the hashtags, #hollywoodlifeisgarbage #repost #spam #givethematasteoftheirownmedicine.
Bieber has an impressive 71.6 million Instagram followers and 83.1 million Twitter followers.
The 21-year-old pop star did not elaborate as to why he wants to shut down Hollywood Life, but, as Time magazine points out, a few of the site's recent articles about Bieber have been about the singer's alleged relationships. Jezebel notes the site also published articles about on-again-off-again ex-girlfriend Selena Gomez and stories about Bieber's alleged new girlfriend Nicola Peltz. Hollywood Life ran a few of those stories Tuesday, which have reportedly been deleted.
Gossip Cop, which is no fan of Hollywood Life, writes the celeb gossip site in question has "fabricated stories, has published "misleading articles" and has "clickbait tendencies."
"And while other stars have also ripped HollywoodLife for its behavior, we're glad to see a celebrity of Bieber's caliber now taking a stand, too," Gossip Cop adds. "He already has Paris Jackson in his corner, as she re-posted the original anti-HollywoodLife message on her own Instagram Wednesday night."
Hollywood Life has yet to comment on Bieber's actions, but if you take a look at the site's front page, it seems to be preoccupied with the latest news that Taylor Swift and U.K. actor Tom Hiddleston are dating, just like the rest of the Internet.
