PopUps: Carly Rae Jepsen Says New Music is on the Way
Queen of hinting that new music is on the way.
Carly Rae Jepsen took to Instagram Tuesday to tease fans that she may soon be releasing new music.
Jepsen has been working on her highly anticipated followup to her excellent 2015 album "Emotion," recently telling The New Yorker her new music has "understated disco" influence. She previously told the Vancouver Sun she's been inspired by ABBA for the new record.
The "Run Away with Me" singer got fans' hopes up this week when she shared a black-and-white gif of herself on Instagram stories with text that reads. "New music is in fact on the way." In another gif, Jepsen is seen dancing. She added the text, "Shoot wrapped!!! Oh I want to dance with somebody" and tagged photographer Matthew Takes.
Jepsen released a collection of "Emotion" b-sides in 2016 called "Emotion: Side B" and a new single this year called "Cut to the Feeling" for the Canadian-French animated film "Leap!" Revisit that song below.
