German TikToker Comes Out as Bi, But Some Question Authenticity
Popular TikTok creator Theo Carow has come out as bisexual, Instinct reports.
With some 1.6 million followers on TikTok, Carow came out in a video on August 14, according to the German website MADS.
But some wondered if his coming out as bi was in response to his being accused of "queerbaiting" in the past and using queer memes to gain a queer audience. Carow "has repeatedly received criticism for his commitment against toxic masculinity, i.e. the convulsive insistence on outdated male ideals. The accusation: He used the LGBTQ community to gain more reach on social media. This behavior is also known as queerbaiting," reports MADS.
"In order to finally get rid of these allegations, the 24-year-old has now come out as bisexual."
With some 200,000 followers on Instagram, MADS says that "fans appreciate Carow for the fact that he normalizes the fact that a man likes to wear make-up, paint his nails and at the same time have a sexual interest in women."
"I've got used to hate and death threats from intolerant people by now — sad enough, actually," says Carow at the beginning of his Tiktok statement."Half of my childhood I wore pigtails and dresses, I would have preferred to be a girl forever," he continues with tears in his eyes."My first kiss was with a boy—thosewere my first sexual experiences later."
"A decisive experience later dissuaded him from indulging in his feelings for men, but he did not want to go into it," MADDS writes.

"In the video, which plays The Neighbourhood's 'Sweater Weather' in the background, Carow is seen standing in front of his camera. Above him hangs the text, 'Hi, this is an official statement,' " writes MADS> "Then to caption the video, Theo Carow wrote, 'This been a long way,' with a pride flag emoji."
While many showed their support in his TikTok feed. German politician German politician Kevin Kratzsch commented: "Nobody should fear being who he or she is. Every individual story is valuable and it is precisely the differences that make life interesting and worth living. For all of us! Dear Theo, your confession is correct and should actually become unnecessary!"
Adding: "Who you love or how you live should no longer be an issue at all. That is why the signal is all the more important that this and another post comes from you. Because it means: everyone should be himself, have the courage to be me. Shame should be replaced with pride. You are cool because you are who you are. That's the great message, that's what matters."
Others, MADS reports, doubted Carow's authenticity. "No mean intention and you know we are cool — but if it is not an honest (but vague) statement, but a joke, it is queerbaiting and unfortunately not cool at all," German singer Strify posted. "Benefit of the doubt: I'm happy for you."
