Brooklyn Nets guard Cam Thomas is apologizing for using an anti-gay slur during a postgame interview following his team's win over the Chicago Bulls, 116-105, in New York.

As reported by ESPN, Thomas was being interviewed by TNT court side with his new teammate Spencer Dinwiddie when Dinwiddie joked that the Nets may not have acquired the most talented players in their recent trades, but they did get the "the best-looking."

"And the Nets needed some help in that department," Dinwiddie said.

When asked by TNT about Dinwiddie's comment, Thomas said postgame Thursday night: "We already had good-looking guys, no homo."

Thomas later took to social media to apologize for the remark.

"I want to apologize for the insensitive word I used in the postgame interview," he said. "I was excited about the win and was being playful. I definitely didn't intend to offend anyone, but realize that I probably did."

For the quip, Thomas was fined $40,000 for using "derogatory and disparaging language" after Thursday's win over the Chicago Bulls, the NBA announced Friday.

"My apologies again," Thomas added. "Much love."

And that is how you take responsibility, folks.
